Love Hurts or Heals!
Several times in my life, i have heard people say this, say that. But the most frequent and constant saying that I recall is "Love hurts!". This made me ponder over the fact, does it really? The adage "Don't judge a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes" fits completely well in this situation. And i realized the answer to this is to either fall in love myself or to ask people who have been there done that. But people can not fall in love, they just fall in love. Confusing i know, but those of you who are in love will understand. So to fall in love myself seemed a bleak possibility hence i decided to go with the second option in hand. Now asking people already in love is not as easy as it seems. God knows how dreamy and confusing their replies can be! But some of their answers really touched me and for a minute even i wished to be struck by the cupid kid! I better give you some live examples. One guy told me "love is a bitch" which made me think why does it always have to be the opposite gender for them. Phew! Anyways he was going through a heartbreak and his comment was justified. Most heartbroken people had a similar view. Another lady answered "love is the most beautiful thing that has ever happened to me". Quite a cliche! One of the most beautiful answers that i got was from a lovely couple who answered in unison "Love gives you the best feeling in the world that someone out there is thinking about you and waiting to be with you". Some people were quite practical while answering. One girl told me "Love is having someone you want to spend your life with", another said "love is a feeling", well we all know that! One simple one was "Love is happiness". I noticed there was a difference of opinion based on the age difference. Young couples answered almost instantly and dreamy eyed-idly while older ones answered with lots of mulling over life experiences. And the last but not the least was the most awaited and expected reply that "love hurts". And these were the answers not only by people who were cheated or one-sided love cases but also who were in relationships. Some were bitchy, some rude, some cynical and some just did not care. But then i came across this one answer that beat all positives and negatives and triumphed over. It was something like this "Everyone says Love hurts, but that is not true. Loneliness hurts. Rejection hurts. Envy hurts. Everyone gets things confused with love. But in reality love is the only thing in this world that covers up all the pain and makes you feel wonderful again." I was speechless. I could not comprehend the depth of this statement. Life teaches differently to people. But love does not teach. It only gives. What one takes from it becomes an opinion. But then I did understand one thing, more than hurting Love makes you whole, it completes you, it energizes you and yes it Heals!
