Blissful summer breeze
I am writing this for all those Delhi dwellers who pass 2 to 3 hours daily traveling in Delhi Metro. The advent of Metro in Delhi has made life very easy for travelers. And since then, thanks to the population explosion in our country number of travelers have been increasing. What had been a blessing for Delhi is now becoming a problem of some sort for daily travelers. With the ever increasing fleet of people boarding metro, it is difficult to fit into the coaches at some particular stations like Rajeev chowk. In fact it has given birth to a new phrase when people talk about crowd which says "This is nothing. Go to Rajeev chowk metro and witness the level of crowd. you don't even have to move, just stay put and people will take you along with them." Its that packed! All is well and cozy in winters but the actual problem surfaces during summer season. The hot Delhi summer will make you sweat and pant like anything and reaching your destination via metro will become a herculean task. But there lies the greatness of the hard working Indians. They still travel in all that hustle and bustle of the Delhi metro to save their time and hard-earned money. And count me in that category of sincere, hard-working Indians who take the same route to go to work. When i started, it seemed impossible for me to sustain in that crowd and keep standing for one and a half hour. I found the idea of a cab tempting but the amount it was going to cost made me wince and i dropped the idea as soon as it popped up. So this morning again i took the dear old metro from Janakpuri to Hauz Khas via Rajeev Chowk. It was the same as everyday infact the rush seemed to have doubled. I sometimes ran, sometimes waited, even missed one or two trains expecting a decrease in rush but to my disappointment and horror it appeared to be increasing with every passing train. Finally i boarded one tightly packed ladies compartment. Don't worry, i won't bore you with the gory details of that hour which included pushing and crawling & people giving me glares. So when i reached Hauz Khas i was tired, sweaty, thirsty, my back was aching and what not. I stepped onto the exit escalator of gate no.2. Unexpected, it came as a complete shock morphing into a pleasant smile on my face. Yes! i am talking about the cool breeze that blows on the staircase area. All thanks to the construction design of the building, it was a huge relief. It made me relax and i closed my eyes to savor those few moments of utmost bliss. It was momentary, but for me it was like an ocean in a desert and trust me it will be the same for many of you. Happy and energized, i reached office. That moment made me realize that whatever be the crisis in life, there is always that something which fuels you into motion. It might be a person, a thing, something as big an elephant or as miniscule as a word written somewhere. Well, I found my bliss in this Summer to keep me going. Go find yours!
